Course Overview:

Led by experienced cannabis experts, students will gain the skills to open and run any business in the booming cannabis industry. They will explore all the unique aspects of the industry, including grow facilities, extraction facilities, manufacturing facilities, and dispensary operations. They will leave the program prepared for a career in the cannabis industry.

Course Outline:

Module 1: Cannabis Basics and Business

Learning objectives: Be able to explain the cannabis 1 2plant, its historical significance, and its classifications. Describe how to select suitable terpenes and cannabinoids for medicinal purposes, recognize common cannabis products, explain their usage, and effectively decipher cannabis product labels.

Lesson 1: What is Cannabis – Explore the fundamentals of cannabis, including its origins, cultivars, and various strains. Delve into the plant’s anatomy, life cycle, reproductive processes, and distinguish between hemp and cannabis. Gain insights into the endocannabinoid system.

Lesson 2: Components of Cannabis – Dive into the components found in cannabis, including THC, CBD, and terpenes, and their therapeutic effects. Explore strains and their potential benefits for various health conditions. Examine the entourage effect and the interplay between CBD and THC.

Lesson 3: Cannabis Products – Learn about items available in dispensaries, diverse consumption methods, product variations, factors affecting quality, CBD:THC ratios, potency labeling, cannabinoids, types of concentrates, edible ingredients, cannabis oils, the physiological effects of edibles, and the advantages of topical products for addressing skin issues, pain, and inflammation.

Module 2: Cannabis Careers and Business

Learning Objectives: After finishing the Cannabis Careers 3 2and Business class, you’ll be able to find the requirements for working in the cannabis industry in the US or Canada. You’ll also acquire skills to gain practical experience, discover job opportunities, craft industry-focused resumes and cover letters, and master successful job interviews. Additionally, you’ll gain insights into different cannabis career paths, like cultivation, extraction, dispensary work, and other related roles, understanding their responsibilities, educational needs, chances for advancement, and compensation.

Lesson 1: Government Requirements for Cannabis Industry Workers – In this lesson, you’ll get crucial info on how to start a cannabis career in the United States or Canada. It covers age requirements, fees for work permits, and mandatory training for cannabis industry jobs in different regions.

Lesson 2: Cannabis Career Basics – Explore the basics of entering the cannabis industry. Learn where to find cannabis jobs, create effective resumes and cover letters, and excel in interviews. Discover valuable job-hunting resources and how to highlight skills from other industries on your cannabis resume.

Lesson 3: Cannabis Cultivation Careers – Dive into the world of cannabis cultivation, including roles like growers, trimmers, and packagers. Understand the rules, responsibilities, education, experience, advancement, wages, and skills required for these careers.

Lesson 4: Marijuana Processing Careers – Discover opportunities in cannabis processing, from kitchens to extraction facilities. Learn about jobs like lab technicians, managers, extraction specialists, and kitchen staff. Understand the specific rules, responsibilities, education, experience, growth potential, salaries, and vital skills for these positions.

Lesson 5: Cannabis Dispensary Careers – Get insights into cannabis dispensary businesses and careers, including budtenders, educators, assistants, guides, and managers. Learn about strain differences, dosing, and ingredients for cooking. Explore the regulations, responsibilities, education, experience, career prospects, wages, and essential skills for budtenders and dispensary managers.

Lesson 6: Ancillary Cannabis Careers – Explore diverse ancillary cannabis careers, such as accountants, lawyers, consultants, delivery drivers, doctors, managers, marketers, designers, realtors, sales reps, researchers, security guards, staffing agents, guides, developers, writers, editors, and journalists. Learn about their responsibilities, educational or experience requirements, and potential salaries.

Module 3: Cannabis Business

Learning Objectives: By the end of the Cannabis Business 5 2class, you will have the skills to discover if you can apply for a business license in a US or Canadian state, province, or territory. You’ll also learn how to obtain a business license, understand the unique challenges of the cannabis industry, create a business plan, and comprehend different aspects of running a cannabis business, including marketing and legal aspects. You’ll also be able to develop plans for launching and managing cannabis cultivation, extraction, and dispensary businesses, while gaining insights into the challenges faced by ancillary cannabis businesses.

You’ll gain an understanding of specific requirements in different regions, including age restrictions, permit fees, mandatory training, and inventory tracking.

Lesson 2: Cannabis Business Basics – Explore the essential aspects of planning your cannabis business journey, from creating a marijuana business plan to tackling common challenges. Topics include banking hurdles, evolving regulations, taxes, market analysis, pricing, specialization, patents, marketing, financing, and the significance of a pitch deck. The lesson also delves into advertising difficulties, cannabis-related occasions, transportation regulations, inventory management, insurance, and legal considerations.

Lesson 3: Cannabis Cultivation Businesses – This lesson assists you in navigating the intricacies of establishing a marijuana cultivation business. It offers guidance on setting up a successful cannabis cultivation endeavor while steering clear of common pitfalls. Topics encompass planning, financing, strain selection, and compliance with regulations.

Lesson 4: Cannabis Processing Businesses – Gain insights into the vital decisions required to run a prosperous cannabis manufacturing enterprise. This lesson covers a range of facets, including financing, licensing, property selection, equipment procurement, and the establishment of extraction facilities and infused-product kitchens.

Lesson 5: Cannabis Dispensary Businesses – Understand how to handle legal considerations, store planning, and community sentiments when establishing a cannabis dispensary. This lesson provides insights into various ancillary businesses, such as compliance and consulting firms, test labs, delivery services, packaging design, equipment suppliers, and more.

Module 4: Intro to Cannabis Laws/Regulations and Business

Learning Objectives: By the end of the Cannabis9 1 Laws/Regulations and Business class, you’ll be able to provide an overview of the past and current conditions of both US federal cannabis policies and Canadian federal cannabis policies. You’ll be equipped to describe the allowed quantities of cannabis for personal possession and cultivation in a chosen US state. Additionally, you will be skilled in detailing the legal limits for cannabis possession and cultivation in a particular Canadian province or territory, and you’ll have insight into the regulations governing cannabis in a country outside North America.

Lesson 1: Cannabis Laws in the United States – In this lesson, you’ll dive into the laws surrounding cannabis in the US. You’ll explore the historical background of these laws, federal and state regulations, significant court cases, and the consequences of breaking these laws. This lesson also covers the complexities of cannabis possession, distribution, manufacturing, cultivation, and the availability of CBD in states where it remains illegal, as well as the regulations governing medical and recreational cannabis programs.

Lesson 2: Cannabis Laws in Canada – This lesson provides an overview of how cannabis laws have developed in Canada, from the era of prohibition to the current state of legalization for medical and recreational use. You’ll gain insights into Canada’s federal program for medical cannabis, federal regulations concerning possession, public use, distribution, and cultivation, and the variations in cannabis laws among different provinces and territories.10

Lesson 3: Cannabis Laws in Other Countries – In this lesson, you’ll broaden your understanding of cannabis regulations across the globe, essential for a global perspective of the cannabis industry. You’ll explore the legal frameworks of over 60 countries, including Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and many more. The focus is on the rules governing possession, cultivation, and distribution.
