Emerging Technology for Teachers

Course Overview:
As more and more technology becomes available in our modern classrooms, educators need to be prepared to make the best use of emerging technology-based teaching and learning components. Today’s students depend on developing their creativity skills, their ability to generate innovative ideas and design solutions for tomorrow’s problems. This course will help teachers learn how to better integrate technology into the classroom. The modern classroom requires a variety of strategies and tools to enhance traditional methods with today’s technology tools across all content areas of concern. The teachers roles in the modern classroom are constantly changing, thus modern teaching and learning even happens beyond the school walls and outside the school day. Understanding the impact of technology on education will advance that learning process.
Students will:
- Examine and understand the changing nature of information technologies.
- Understand how to integrate technology across content areas.
- Identify current emerging technologies for teaching and learning.
- Identify resources for finding emerging technologies.
- Identify emerging technologies for applicability to the classroom.
- Determine the impact emerging technologies will have on education.
- Understand and plan for new technologies.
- Gain an understanding of the 21st century technology skills and use a variety of tools and applications to support them.
- Use technology to facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity.
Course Outline:
Lesson 1: Understanding the Impact of Technology on Education and Society
In this lesson, teachers will examine and understand the impact and changing nature of information technologies.
Lesson 2: Engaging Students through Technology
This lesson will help teachers learn a variety of tools and applications that will enhance traditional methods and engage students through technology.
Lesson 3: Integrating Technology in the Classroom
In this lesson teachers will learn how to integrate technology across content areas to guide and coach their students to be creative thinkers and innovative problem solvers.
Lesson 4: New Emerging Technologies
This lesson will help teachers understand and utilize new and emerging technologies that create an effective and motivational learning environment.

- Cable, Fiber, DSL, or LEO Satellite (i.e. Starlink) internet with speeds of at least 10mb/sec download and 5mb/sec upload are recommended for the best experience.
NOTE: While cellular hotspots may allow access to our courses, users may experience connectivity issues by trying to access our learning management system. This is due to the potential high download and upload latency of cellular connections. Therefore, it is not recommended that students use a cellular hotspot as their primary way of accessing their courses.

- Resolution: 1280 x 720 or higher. 1920x1080 resolution is recommended for the best experience.
